So much for getting better at blog posts with time! I haven’t posted anything since May 10th…it has now been three whole months. What a slacker! This is truly ridiculous. Well…sometimes ‘life gets in the way’. Life takes you down different paths and you often cannot predict where you may be headed next.
“Change is the only constant” – as Heraclitus so accurately stated, is a quote that has popped up multiple times in my life. The first time I heard it was when I worked on the Barbie International Marketing team at Mattel. There seemed to be organizational changes every couple months right when you felt like you were starting to get settled. That’s when my manager at the time told me that at Mattel, change was the only constant. Little did I know how true that would be for many aspects and phases of my life.
Change has practically been my middle name for the past couple of weeks. Since I last posted, I:
• interviewed, accepted, and started a new job
• moved cross country – from Atlanta, GA to Manhattan Beach, CA – and in with my boyfriend
• traveled every weekend for bachelorette parties, weddings, and fun celebrations
• started training for a half marathon
All great things and I could not be happier – it has just been a little bit of a whirlwind to say the least! I love my new job and am definitely kept on my toes. Switching from working on a large, established brand to a newer, young brand, I am learning new skills on a daily basis. The pace it much faster, which has taken a little getting used to and I am enjoying the ability to be nimble.
The cross-country move was a big one, but one that I welcomed. Coming back to California means coming back to family. It was difficult to be far from family when loved ones were battling health issues and age and I did not truly realize how challenging it would be until I was far away. And after two years of long-distance, my love and I have finally made our personal and professional lives align. Onward and upward with the best of everything!
So this post is a chance to pull my head out of the sand and start doing some of the things I really enjoy again. Make time for me and know that in the end it will help me be more productive overall. That means trying new fitness routines, new recipes, and exploring new places.
I may have slacked in my posting over the last couple months, but life goes on and I can’t wait to see what it brings next!
